Spanish Immersion Program

What is a Spanish Immersion Program?

A Spanish immersion program develops an environment in which Spanish is taught naturally, through daily classroom activities. Students are immersed in Spanish in a setting that is supportive and individualized. The Spanish Immersion program creates bilingual students with proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in both Spanish and English. Learning a second language enhances children’s brain development, expands their cultural awareness, helps them think more flexibly, and increases job opportunities later in life.

Our Spanish Immersion program integrates Spanish into everyday curriculum. No prior exposure to Spanish is necessary. Knowing more than one language has many benefits including stronger brain development, higher academic achievement, increased job opportunities, and positive and respectful attitudes towards different languages and cultures.

Benefits also include:

• Enhanced cognitive skills: immersion students typically develop greater cognitive flexibility, demonstrating increased attention control, better memory, and superior problem-solving skills, as well as an enhanced understanding of their primary language.
